THE KOALA BEAR


The scientific name of koala is phascolarctos cinereous.
The females weight 8.5kg and the males weight 12kg in New Gales.
The colour of the body of the koala is grey.
The body is fat, which is covered by a thick and soft fur. The head is large and round. It has large and rounded hairy ears. They have short legs with large feet that have five fingers ; In addition, each finger has a strong and large grip.
The koala size 76 cm.
The koala is easy observed in the eucalyptus forests.
The young koala feeds on a kind of porridge the mother produced by the anus.
Their reproduction lasts twenty two months.
The koala has one puppy for year, and rarely two puppies.
The puppies stay for six months in the pouch of her mother.
Some estimates set the average life of a koala in the wild in about 10 years.
They live in flocks in the Australian forest and are very sensitive to any change in the environment.
Pollution, construction, expansion of agriculture and livestock, the population explosion and the felling of trees threaten their natural environment.
The koala is in danger of extinction because of hunting intensive too.
